About the Society

The Te Horo Hall Society Incorporated exists to benefit the community by providing opportunities for residents and visitors to meet for social and recreational activities, and by maintaining and improving the Te Horo Hall and associated assets.

 

Becoming a Member

Any person may apply to become a Member of the Society. A person becomes a Member when:

• they complete and submit an application and consent form; and

• they give their express consent to becoming a Member.

The Committee may approve or decline applications. If declined, the Committee is not required to provide a reason.

 

Member Obligations

Members of the Society have the following obligations:

1. Provide Required Details Members must supply the personal information needed to maintain the Society’s Membership Register.

2. Maintain Express Consent Members must confirm continued membership when requested. Failure to do so may result in removal from the Register.

3. Comply with Membership Requirements Members must comply with all requirements set out in the Constitution, including any membership fee approved at an Annual General Meeting or Special General Meeting.

4. Participate in Dispute Resolution if Required Members involved in a dispute must follow the dispute‑resolution procedures adopted under Schedule 2 of the Incorporated Societies Act 2022.

5. Avoid Personal Benefit from Society Assets Members must not use Society money or assets for personal benefit, nor for the benefit of their family.

 

Member Rights

Members have the following rights:

1. Voting Rights at General Meetings Members may vote at Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and Special General Meetings (SGMs).

2. Access to Society Information Members may request updates to their details on the Membership Register and may receive notices of meetings and Society communications.

3. Eligibility for Life Membership Members who have provided significant service to the Society may be nominated for Life Membership.
    

Ceasing Membership

A Member ceases to be a Member if they:

• resign by written notice to the Secretary;

• fail to confirm continued membership when requested;

• are removed under the dispute‑resolution procedures; or

• no longer meet eligibility requirements.
   

Termination of membership will be communicated in writing.
