PHASE 2 FUNDRAISING HAS STARTED!

In 2024 the community and local businesses came together in an awesome effort to fundraise for the earthquake strengthening of the Te Horo Hall. The result was an amazing $450k raised!

The funds were used to earthquake strengthen the Hall, install a brand new kitchen and paint the interior walls.

When fundraising started with a goal of $500k it was estimated that more work could be delivered for the estimated goal of $500k, but this has not been possible due to unforeseen additional costs and a consenting process because of the heritage listing of the Hall.

The recladding, painting, improvements to the outdoor areas, reroofing and upgrade of the tennis courts are still to be achieved if we want to have a fit-for-purpose community Hall in Te Horo that will last and that is financially sustainable.

Raising funds for the recladding of the Hall (and minor works that need to be carried out at the same time) is the priority for 2025/2026 as this work needs to happen within the timeframe set by resource consent conditions. The re-cladding can be done in stages as and when the funding is sufficient for each stage. Preferred would be to do is all in one go to meet the consent timeline and is also most likely to be more cost effective.

Phase 2 kicked off with the first Hall Quiz on 31 July which was again a very well attended and fun evening where $2600 was raised.

Two more events for which ticket sales are now underway.

Retro Disco on 18 October – get your dancing shoes and wigs out and join us for a night of boogie and fun!

Beyond the Garden Gates - Garden Trail on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 November

Our 2026 Fundraising Goals

The committee has set the priority for spending raised funds as follows:

  1. Re-cladding of the Hall in 3 stages combined with minor works that need to be carried out at the same time (window and door replacement, soak pits, toilet connections)

  2. Improvements to the deck area and outdoor area

  3. Reroofing of the Hall

  4. Tennis Courts upgrade (new surface)

  5. Tennis Courts pavilion work

Some Road Rai$e 2024 Event Highlights

Road Rai$e 2024 Results!

The Great Te Horo Road Rai$e was a friendly challenge to see which Road Group could raise the most funds but it was also about having fun together and meeting new neighbours. Just on $70k was raised from the 12 Areas which is great and significant result.

Below are the results achieved by each Road group! These are net figures, minus any expenses occurred in running events (which were generally a small cost due to the generosity of organisers and supporting donations).

Huge thanks to everyone who contributed. It doesn't really matter who won (well maybe to some of you!). It was all about taking part, joining in, and helping out to raise money for something we all get to use and enjoy.

Well done, Te Horo!
