Walk 4, 294 Old Hautere Road

Walk Te Horo Walk 4, 294 Old Hautere Road, Sun 21st April, 10am

Join us on the 4th walk in the series of walks up and over local farms and into areas not normally open to the public!

Registration and briefing from 9.15am.  

Meet at the Empson Farm paddock on the corner of Old Hautere Road and Otaki Gorge Road. This walk is over the Empson Farm which has been in the family for over 100 years. You will pass by a QE11 covenanted bush area; an historic cottage built in 1892 which was the Old Hautere Cross Post Office until 1924; take in magnificent views of the Otaki River and walk through another QE11 covenanted area with huge old totara tree stands and historic stone walls. Approx 6km.

On the walk:

• Wear strong footwear to avoid injury from uneven ground.
• Walking poles optional.
• Carry an additional layer of clothing for exposed areas and changeable weather.
• Bring a water bottle and snack.
• Follow the directions of marshalls.
• Follow the markers.
• Treat all fences as live.
• Take away all litter and respect all property.
• Leave all gates as you find them.
• No dogs are allowed on any of these walks.
