About the event

The Great Te Horo Road Rai$e Walking Series

Easter Sunday to 5th May, 6 consecutive Sundays!

Join us on a series of walks up and over local farms and into areas not normally open to the public!

Each walk is around 6km to 10km or do a shorter 5km option.

$15 each per walk, or do all six for $75.00, kids under 15 go free.

All walks start at 10am, rain or shine!

Book now or bring cash on the day.

All proceeds go to Te Horo Hall Society Fundraising.

Walk 1 - Pilet & Cobb Farm, Arcus Road, 10am, Sunday 31st March: COMPLETED

Walk 2 - Walker Farm, 141 Te Horo Beach Road, 10am, Sunday 7 th April: COMPLETED

Walk 3 - 276 Te Hapua Road, 10am Start, Sunday 14 th April: COMPLETED

Walk 4, 294 Old Hautere Road, 10am Start, Sunday, 21st April

This walk is over the Empson Farm which has been in the family for over 100 years.

You will pass two stands of QE11 Covenanted bush; an historic cottage built in 1892

which was the Old Hautere Cross Post Office until 1924 and take in magnificent views

of the Otaki River.

Walk 5 - Mansell’s Farm, 708 Otaki Gorge Road, 10am Start, Sunday, 28 April

This is a gently graded track, across the largest sheep farm in the area, with more

than 400ha farmed by the Mansell family since 1933. You will be rewarded with

amazing views across the entire Te Horo Plain and Otaki River as it sweeps to the sea.

Walk 6 - Faiths Farm, 843 Old SH1, Te Horo, 10am Start, Sunday 5th May

The Faith family Farm, a story of gradual and prudent accumulation, along with good farming

practices, since John Faith took up the farming life in 1914. He later started the Te Horo

Store, which later morphed into the Reds Café! This walk takes a large circular arc through

the farm over undulating sandhills and farm tracks, starting and ending at the entrance to

the ‘Milk Station’, where the current generation vend fresh A2 milk daily.
